Are you still excited about the CMT award this year as I am? Held in Austin Texas on April 2, 2023, at 8 pm Eastern time – The CMT (Country Music Video and Television) Music Awards drew everybody’s attention. As the biggest carnival for country music lovers worldwide, this award ceremony has captivated everyone’s attention, not only by featuring all the hottest country stars, but also by showcasing the latest fashion trends on the red carpet.
It takes a “long and winding road” for the CMT award to become what we are seeing today. Originally presented by the now-defunct magazine, Music City News, the award ceremony found its way to TNN in 1988. Following TNN’s gradual shift away from country music, the awards jump started a relationship with CMT in 2001, ultimately becoming the “Country Music Video and Television” award ceremony that we celebrate today. What’s more, this year’s CMT award also makes a new record by holding it in Texas – somewhere besides Nashville, for the very first time (Information from Wikipedia)!
This Year’s CMT award was hosted by Kelsea Ballerini and Kane Brown. Both of them were nominees of the night, Ballerini with two and Brown with three. The biggest winner was Lainey Wilson, who won four awards in one fell swoop, including Best Video, Best Female Singer Video, Best Collaboration Video, and Best CMT Performance.
